Finding Genuine Liquid Hoodia Gordonii

The list of available hoodia products just keeps growing. Liquid hoodia has been around for a while. There are hoodia teas, hoodia patches and even hoodia sprays.

Most 100% hoodia products (Hoodia XR, Desert Burn, Hoodia 750, etc.) are sold in capsule form. The same is true of the products which contain hoodia mixed with other ingredients (pur hoodia plus, tru hoodia, hoodia gordonii plus, etc.). Then there are the liquid hoodia products, with names like Desert Juice and Hoodia Juice. Designed for those who have difficulty swallowing a capsule, liquid hoodia is preferred by some. Hoodia sprays are interesting in that some of them contain alcohol, the labels say organic alcohol, and that is true, all alcohols are organic. There are too many hoodia products to compare in one article, so this comparison focuses on four products, Desert Juice and Hoodia Juice, which are liquids and pur hoodia plus versus hoodia gordonii plus, which contain hoodia combined with other herbs.

Desert Juice is liquid hoodia sold by the Desert Burn Company. They also sell hoodia coffee, tea and capsules. Hoodia Juice is sold through several different distributors and the price per bottle varies from company to company. Pur hoodia plus is distributed by a company called Direct Alternatives. Hoodia Gordonii Plus is a product from Ultra Herbal Supplements.

Desert Juice sells for $39.95 per bottle. Hoodia Juice prices go as low as $15.95 per bottle. When purchasing liquid hoodia, consumers are wise to follow the same guidelines as they would follow when purchasing any hoodia product. In other words, if you want genuine hoodia gordonii, the natural appetite suppressant, you need to look for CITES documents or at least a chemical analysis report verifying authenticity. Hoodia Juice liquid hoodia does not display any certifications of authenticity. Desert Juice displays CITES documents, chemical analysis reports and phyto-sanitary certification. Pur hoodia plus and hoodia gordonii plus use hoodia gordonii purchased from Stella Labs. Stella Labs has the appropriate documentation to support statements that they are supplying genuine hoodia gordonii.
Hoodia gordonii plus is $39.95 per bottle and pur hoodia plus is $44.95 per bottle. A bottle is usually a 30 day or one month supply, but with liquid hoodia products it is hard to judge the serving size. Sometimes the dropper will fill halfway and sometimes full, so a bottle of liquid hoodia may not last the full thirty days.

Pur hoodia plus contains green tea and banaba leaf. Banaba is a tree that grows in Thailand and is said to lower blood glucose levels. According to available information about hoodia gordonii, it affects the nerve cells in the hypothalamus which monitor blood glucose levels and works by making the brain think that blood glucose levels have increased. This basically turns off the hunger mechanism. One must wonder about the effectiveness of combining a product which may lower blood glucose levels, with a product that suppresses hunger by mimicking an increase in blood glucose levels. If you are interested in a hoodia with green tea product, hoodia gordonii plus is probably a better choice. There is an earlier post about the different ingredients in hoodia gordonii plus.

Liquid hoodia should be stored in the refrigerator when not in use and care should be taken to avoid touching the dropper against the tongue, mouth or any other surface to avoid bacteria growth.
